I remember the first time I saw this hosta...it was love at first sight. H. 'Mistress Mabel' is the holy grail for many hosta breeders...a very vigorous grower, great foliage substance, a striking wide white border, great sun tolerance, and very fragrant flowers. This fantastic plant is a must for all hosta gardens. The 30" wide clumps are composed of shiny green leaves with a wide creamy border. In late summer, the clumps are topped with 2' tall scapes (occasionally branched) of very fragrant large lavender flowers. H. 'Mistress Mabel' was named for the Mabel Todd, mistress of Austin Dickinson.
