Info | ='Kinbotan'? ='Kin Botan'. JN: Gold Peony. This amazing little H. venusta sport that has been highly prized in Japan is now available to US gardeners. This tiny clump to only 6" wide at maturity requires a special site away from larger perennials. Each tiny heart-shaped leaf is nicely bordered in chartreuse-gold. In late summer, the clumps are topped with equally miniature flower scapes. This is truly a choice gem for the rock garden or similarly small space. Dwarf plant, light green leaves with creamy yellow border, lavender white flowers, compact grower, unusual variegation. This is a fairly new Japanese selection of the "thumbnail hosta" which is a fair description of its foliage size; the leaves are actually little hearts. This selection has a gold margin on each leaf, neat and pretty. There are 6" scapes of lavender bells too. |
