InfoJN: Hachijo Giboushi = "Hachijo Hosta".
Hachijo is one of the seven Izu islands.
A very glossy dark green leathery leaf.
Thick, glossy, light green leaves, heart-shaped with wavy edges.
Virtually slug-proof and one of the latest to flower.
Hard to find until recently and much in demand for breeding. Lavender flowers.
25-75% shade.
Unusual mound of leathery shiny light green foliage, very thick substance, lavendar flowers. One of the best hostas for substance and late flowering.
H. rupifraga has a dark green, matte finish on very thick substance leaves... NOT the H. rupifraga of the trade, which is actually H. longipes var. latifolia. The lavender flowers top the 18" wide clump in late summer and often into fall.
Light to dark green; thick, succulent; shiny; broad heart; some twisting.
